Your Brand Has a Doppelganger Problem in AI

Here’s something most founders never think about. To a language model, your brand isn’t a logo or a vibe. It’s an entry in a knowledge graph. A node with edges pointing to what you do, who you serve, and who else looks like you.

And the model builds that node from scraps. A line on your homepage. A LinkedIn profile. A Crunchbase entry. An old comparison page someone wrote two years ago. It stitches these together into one mental picture of “your company.”

The problem is that the stitching only works if the scraps agree.

We keep seeing the same quiet failure. The homepage says “Acme AI.” The blog footer says “AcmeAI.” The product pages say “Acme Artificial Intelligence.” A human reads all three and shrugs, obviously the same company. A model doesn’t shrug. It hedges. It might treat them as three faint entities instead of one strong one, and a faint entity is one that never quite earns a recommendation.

This is the unglamorous truth about showing up in AI. Before you worry about being persuasive, you have to be legible. The model has to be confident that all these signals point at the same real-world thing. Consistency isn’t a branding nicety here. It’s the difference between one brand the model knows well and three it half-knows.

The fix is boring, which is why almost nobody does it. Pick one exact name and use it everywhere, character for character. Link your profiles to each other so the model can see they’re the same entity. State plainly what topics you’re an authority on, in the same words every time. You’re not writing copy. You’re writing an identity document a machine can read without guessing.

The brands that win the next few years won’t necessarily be the loudest. They’ll be the ones the model never has to guess about. Clarity compounds. Every consistent signal makes the next recommendation a little more confident.

The frustrating part is you can’t see your own doppelganger from the inside. You know you’re one company. The model might not. The only way to find out is to ask the models directly and read what they actually believe about you.

That’s the gap beket.ai closes. We query ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity the way your customers do, score what they say against your real business data, and flag exactly where the model has you confused with a ghost. Find out who AI thinks you are, before a buyer asks it and gets the wrong answer.
