By Nur Rysbek

Study date: November 3, 2026

Fairmont Pacific Rim is the Vancouver hotel AI named most, with 50 mentions. Loden Hotel (33), Pan Pacific Vancouver (32), Fairmont Waterfront (29) and Rosewood Hotel Georgia (24) came next. We counted them from 25 questions put to ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overview on November 3, 2026.

In all, the engines named 43 hotels 416 times. The top 5 took 168 of those mentions (40.4%).

These numbers are what the AI engines returned. They are not Beket AI's opinion or a ranking of quality. AI answers change over time, so read this as a snapshot.

This page is not an endorsement of any hotel, and we did not check prices or availability.

Stacked bar chart of the 10 most named Vancouver hotels, split by ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overview. Fairmont Pacific Rim leads with 50 mentions, followed by Loden Hotel (33), Pan Pacific Vancouver (32) and Fairmont Waterfront (29). The rest of the chart runs from 24 down to 12 mentions.

The list counts specific hotels only. The answers also named chains and hotel groups as brands, such as Marriott (25 mentions), 63 times in total; we counted those separately and left them out of the hotel list.

Did ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overview name the same hotels?

How did the engines differ?

Sixteen of the 43 hotels were named by all three engines. Meanwhile 5 came up on only one engine.

Fairmont Pacific Rim led ChatGPT with 33 mentions and Perplexity with 14. ChatGPT gave 261 of the 416 mentions (62.7%), so it shaped most of the combined list. 25 of Loden Hotel's 33 mentions came from ChatGPT, and all 5 mentions of Skwachàys Lodge did.

Perplexity put Fairmont Waterfront second, with 12 mentions. Google AI Overview named Pan Pacific Vancouver and Wedgewood Hotel & Spa most, 4 times each, and Fairmont Pacific Rim 3 times.

Which sources did the engines cite?

The answers cited 640 sources in all. Beket AI's source list for the audit shows the domains cited most across all three engines: google.com (83), fairmont.com (35), ca.hotels.com (31), hotels.com (30), marriott.com (30), expedia.com (21), tripadvisor.ca (21), destinationvancouver.com (20), rosewoodhotels.com (16) and vancouvertourism.org (16).

We also captured 183 of the 640 cited links one by one and sorted them by type of site:

Type of site ChatGPT Perplexity Google AI Overview All captured
Booking and review sites (Expedia, Hotels.com, Tripadvisor, Booking.com, Kayak and similar) 11 87 5 103
Hotel and hotel brand websites 8 10 9 27
Tourism boards and city guides 8 4 2 14
Travel media and other sites 11 13 2 26
google.com links 0 0 12 12
Forums, social and video 0 0 1 1
All captured links 38 114 31 183

Source: Beket AI market audit, November 3, 2026. A sample of 183 captured links, sorted by domain. Not every cited link was captured.

Booking and review sites made up 103 of the 183 captured links (56.3%), and hotel websites 27. Perplexity gave 87 of those 103 booking and review links. ChatGPT's captured links were spread more evenly. Destination Vancouver's site was cited by all three engines.

Treat this split with care. 114 of the 183 captured links are from Perplexity, so the sample leans toward its sources, and it covers only the links we captured.

What this means for hotels

A short version, based on what the engines returned in this study:

  • Pages for each area and need. Most of the 25 questions asked about a neighbourhood or a need, such as Coal Harbour, Gastown, free parking or a pool for kids. A hotel's own site can answer those on a page each. Hotel and brand websites, such as fairmont.com (35) and rosewoodhotels.com (16), were among the domains cited most.
  • Booking and review listings. Booking and review sites were the largest group of captured sources, 103 of 183. Keep your Expedia, Hotels.com, Booking.com and Tripadvisor listings complete and accurate.
  • Your Google listing. Google AI Overview showed for 13 of the 25 questions, and google.com was the domain it linked to most in our captured sample (12 of 31). A complete Google Business Profile is the Google listing you control.
  • Tourism boards and third-party lists. destinationvancouver.com was cited 20 times, and guides and travel media made up 26 of the captured links. Being on the lists these sites publish puts your name on pages the engines read.

Matching structured data on your site helps too; our local business schema markup guide walks through it.

How did we run the study?

We ran one Beket AI market audit on November 3, 2026, between 22:15 and 22:28 UTC. Its location was set to Vancouver, British Columbia, and its language to English.

  1. Questions. The audit had 25 selected questions, the same on all three engines. None named a hotel.
  2. Discovery prompts. The audit also added 4 longer prompts of its own, and the counts include their answers.
  3. Mentions. A mention is a hotel named in an answer. Share is a hotel's mentions divided by all 416 mentions.
  4. Times named first. This counts answers where that hotel came first.
  5. Threshold. The audit's report listed 65 names, each with at least 2 mentions. A hotel named less often may not appear here.
  6. Name variants. We combined spellings of the same hotel, taking 51 names down to 43. The merges are listed below. We kept Parq Vancouver separate from JW Marriott Parq Vancouver, as the engines gave them.
  7. Left out. We counted only specific hotels. Chain and hotel group names (Marriott, Fairmont, Hyatt, Hilton, Accor, Wyndham, APA) had 63 mentions. Booking and review sites (Expedia, Tripadvisor, Travelocity) had 19. Restaurants and bars inside hotels had 12. We left all of them out of the hotel counts.

Our Vancouver realtors study used the same kind of audit, and our roundup of nine local AI studies compares earlier Seattle and Vancouver results. Our Google Maps vs AI study checks whether the businesses at the top of Google Maps are the ones AI names. We did not rate, verify or rank any hotel ourselves.

How far can you trust these numbers?

Treat them as one careful snapshot, not a verdict. Our note on why one AI check is only a snapshot explains why.

  • One run on one day. Answers can differ by day, by phrasing and by user.
  • Google AI Overview was recorded for only 13 of the 25 selected questions, so most counts come from ChatGPT and Perplexity.
  • ChatGPT gave 62.7% of all mentions, so its picks weigh heavily on the combined list.
  • If one answer used two spellings of the same name, merging could count it twice.
  • The source split is a sample of captured links, mostly from Perplexity.
  • One or two mentions can change a rank near the top.
  • Only three engines were tested. Other AI tools may answer differently.
  • A mention says nothing about price, rooms, service or availability.

What questions did we ask?

The 25 selected questions, asked on all three engines:

  • "Which top-tier luxury hotels near the Vancouver waterfront have the best views and high-end dining options?"
  • "Where should I book my stay in Vancouver if I need a modern hotel with excellent co-working spaces and high-tech business amenities?"

How can a hotel check its own AI answers?

Any business can run its own free check at https://beket.ai. The free Beket AI audit covers 25 prompts across 3 engines: ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overview.
